The Chikan Handicraft
The Chikan handicraft or Chikankari, also known as shadow work or the floral whitework of India, is a traditional embroidery style from Lucknow, India. Literally translated, the word ‘chikan’ means ‘embroidery’. Believed to have been introduced by Nur Jehan, the wife of Mughal emperor Jahangir, it is one of India’s best known textile decoration styles. A skill more than 200 years old, the embroidery is famous for its timeless grace and has made a special place in Indian ethnic wear and on the global fashion scene.
We present heritage Lucknow chikankari on Indian traditional dresses. Our artisans create beautifully handcrafted Indian traditional clothing – a collection of Indian ethnic wear including chikankari sarees and chikankari dupattas. We also have stitched, semi-stitched and unstitched Indian traditional outfits - Lucknow chikankari kurtis, chikankari kurtas and chikankari pants.
